Minecraft Java 1.21.4 - 1.21.8 - GlowOres

Emissive textures in vanilla (1.21.4 onwards), here's the list of all the ores blocks in this pack that now glow!

Coal, Copper, Deepslate Coal, Deepslate Copper, Deepslate Diamond, Deepslate Emerald, Deepslate Gold, Deepslate Iron, Deepslate Lapis, Deepslate Redstone, Diamond, Emerald, Gold, Iron, Lapis, Nether Gold, Nether Quartz, Redstone and as a bonus Ancient Debris.

These wont be added to the main pack as I find it makes finding ores way too easier and a little cheaty too.

Note that I cannot support these files, if you want to use them in the packs you'll have to rename, move and replace the textures yourself, don't forget that you may also have to change blockstate, itemstate or model files too.

These are all the older packs released by the original pack author JohnSmith (plus a few later modified version by JimStoneCraft), these packs are not supported and are only for fun or if you're curious about the history of the John Smith packs.

The first pack was made and uploaded by JohnSmith to the Minecraft forums:-

Early in 2013, JohnSmith edited the forum post (https://web.archive.org/) to include this message:-

In that same year Minecraft was still getting updates and 1.4.7 was released, a small group of Minecraft forum members came together as 'John Smith Legacy' and the pack was continued and the rest is history.

Just for fun I've made a JohnSmith history animation for terrain and items texture sheets from the earlier pack releases to show how much the pack changed in the first two years.

If you play the older releases of Minecraft, things don't always work, the game did not support HD animated textures or HD font, so you'll have to patch the game with Kahr's MCpatcher (https://bitbucket.org/) or sp614x's OptiFine (https://www.minecraftforum.net/).

Usage Guidelines

If you're thinking of using some of these textures in your own pack then consider donating or joining my Patreon, this will help keep the site ad free.

Things you can do

  1. Edit, use and share these textures in your own vanilla or modded resource pack as long credit is clearly given to JimStoneCraft and JohnSmith (you can only use up to 10% of these textures for your own pack).
  2. You're encouraged to use this pack in any screenshots or videos you like and are free to monetize your videos as long as you put a link to this page in the video description.
  3. You're free to modify this resource pack for your own personal use and you're allowed to give your own modified pack to close friends (for a private server) but you may not redistribute your modified pack on a public forum, server or website.
  4. Make this pack your official private server resource pack, your members must obtain the resource packs from this page or you can host the pack yourself on a public or private server for Multiplayer gaming but only in the unmodified zip form.
  5. Adventure map makers can freely modify the resource pack to match their map style and can provide a modified copy to go along with their map (as long as you put a link back to this site with your map).
  6. Use it on a public server that is free to play, as long as you clearly mark that's it's John Smith Legacy Resource Pack and a link back to this site.
  7. Use it on a commercial server (free to play with paid extras or a pay to play server), if you're making money from using this resource pack, I would strongly encourage you to join my Patreon to support the John Smith Legacy project.
